Nevada Broadcasters Foundation

Our Mission:

The Nevada Broadcasters Foundation (NVBF) and the Tony & Linda Bonnici Broadcasting Scholarship Fund finds the very best broadcasting and journalism students in Nevada and makes it easier for them to pursue their dreams. The Foundation awards up to full tuition scholarships to the next generation of Nevada's Broadcasters. This scholarship is unique in that it is a scholarship by broadcasters for broadcasters. In the past six years, 83 scholarships have been awarded to talented and dedicated students of broadcasting attending Nevada's colleges or universities. These scholarships encourage students with great passion to enter broadcasting as a career and to seek the highest quality of education in the field.

A message from the Executive Director:

Never before have I felt more honored and privileged to carry the title of Executive Director of the Nevada Broadcasters Foundation than I do right now. This year the Nevada Broadcasters Foundation has achieved a new milestone in its commitment to putting education first, by awarding 29 scholarships for the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 Semesters. Consisting of 16 returning scholars and 12 new scholarship recipients, it is these students whose lives we are shaping to become tomorrows broadcasters.  Since its inception six years ago, The Tony and Linda Bonnici Scholarship Fund has awarded a total of 83 scholarships to talented and dedicated students of broadcasting. With an average tuition cost of $2,290.00 per student, per semester, the Tony and Linda Bonnici Scholarship Fund will award roughly $132, 820.00 this year alone.

It goes without saying that the Nevada Broadcasters Foundation’s Tony and Linda Bonnici Broadcasting Scholarship Fund could not exist if not for the our continuous fundraising efforts and in-kind donations from individuals and organizations such as The Speedway Children’s Charity’s, Gaudin Motor Company and Dollar Loan Center just to name a few.  It gives me great honor to introduce, due to his unbelievable generosity, The Colin Coward Scholarship.  I thank you all for your assistance as we “Pave The Way for Future Broadcasters”.

Happy to serve,
Eric Bonnici

A message from the President:

It’s easy to see why I have a constant smile on my face.  Have you met any of the 29 scholarship recipients?  They are smart and thoughtful, passionate about their particular field of study and so full of ideas and innovation for our industry.  Each year I say that I can’t believe how bright they are and they couldn’t possibly be better than the year before but sure enough we have added another fine group of individuals that I am proud to call the Tony & Linda Bonnici Scholarship Recipients!

Look around, you will see and hear many of our previous scholars, here in Las Vegas and up in Reno.  Christina Jones is reporting on KSNV as a former Olympian, Alex Cannito went from Producer to Reporter at KRNV in Reno, Rachel Jones is managing an Apple store while creating short films, Rommel Santiago and Sylvia Alvarado are both in radio, Sivan Gavish is in Marketing, Kheslleen Dimanche is working television in Kentucky, Alaina Leadbeter is selling digital assets at KTNV and Crystal Muguerza is working at ABC in LA!

I am so very proud of their accomplishments and excited to see what lies ahead for our scholarship recipients.  Thank you all for supporting them and sharing the magic of our industry with a new generation.

Linda Bonnici
