The mission of the Nevada Broadcasters Foundation and the Tony & Linda Bonnici Scholarship Fund is simple: Find the very best broadcasting and communications students in Nevada and make it easier for them to pursue their dream. To do this, the Foundation awards full tuition scholarships to the next generation of Nevada’s broadcasters. What started as an idea by Tony and Linda Bonnici has become the most exciting, forward-thinking broadcast scholarship in the Nation. What makes this scholarship so unique is that it’s truly a scholarship by broadcasters for broadcasters. We hope you will encourage your children, friends, peers or even yourself to apply for the “Broadcasters Scholarship”. Together, with your help, we will take this scholarship to new heights.
Having served on the board of the Foundation since its inception, I can’t express the gratitude and fulfillment one feels when seeing the look on the students faces when they hear those words “you’ve been awarded a scholarship”. I was recently quoted on the importance of making a difference in this world and the rewards knowing that we are literally changing peoples lives. It is because of all the support given to us not only by our peers in broadcasting, but by friends and relatives thereof, that we can continue to award scholarships to talented and dedicated students of of broadcasting and communications.
If you have supported our efforts in the past, I thank you. If you are inclined, please reach out to me for more information or how you can assist in our efforts. No support is ever to menial.
Again, I thank you for your assistance in “Paving the Way for Future Broadcasters”.
Happy to serve,
In this our fourth year of awarding scholarships to students attending a Nevada college or university, I am very humbled. We have awarded 34 to date, with our very first recipient—Alexandra Cannito, graduating this year from UNR after four years of fully paid tuition! She is a shining example of what the purpose for all of this is. She’s currently working full time as an Associate Producer at KRNV in Reno while attending school and we couldn’t be more proud. That’s just one example of 34 that gives me great assurance that the Broadcasting industry is in good hands. These “kids” as I call them are amazing…talented, energetic and so anxious to get in “the business”. They inspire us all and are excellent examples of what our future will look like. It just makes you smile : )
